Grapefruit Margs

It's that perfect time of year in New Orleans.  The sun is shining bright with a cool breeze in the air.  All of the green is blooming like crazy and the pollen has finally calmed down. We are in between French Quarter Fest and Jazz fest, so don't feel the pressure to be out and socializing.  Although we know the summer heat is slyly waiting around the corner, we basque in these few weeks (days?) of perfect weather.

Have y'all ever seen the rabbit electric cocktail shaker? Currently obsessed! You just load it with ice and all your favorite ingredients and push a little button which swirls it all together in 15 seconds.  So fun, right?  Ever since we got this little gizmo, I am always itching to whip up a batch of something. This weekend, grapefruit margs from A Couple Cooks caught my eye.  I felt so healthy while I was sipping it.  Grapefruit and honey?  Delish and healthy! A little tequila never hurt anyone, right? (Unless you count that one time someone took a shot of a microwaved version, but that's another story).

Grapefruit Margaritas - serves 4
1 cup grapefruit juice (about 2 grapefruits juiced)
1 cup tequila
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup lime juice (2-4 limes)
1/4 cup water
few springs of fresh mint

Fill your shaker with ice, add ingredients (my rabbit shaker is small, so I did this in two batches). Strain into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint if you are feeling particularly on top of your game.  We planted mint last year and it barely sprouted 10 leaves. This year, we moved it into a bigger pot in the shade and it is going nuts.  So everything gets mint at house these days, but these are just as good without it.  Enjoy!
